The latest to claim the crown of world’s thinnest television: Sony’s KDL-40ZX1 (pronunciation unknown), a 40-inch, 26-pound set that’s just 9.9 millimeters thick. But it’s not just the winner of an ongoing pissing contest—the fully high-def LCD TV also comes with a wireless HD base station (with three HDMI ports) to help keep unsightly wires under control. Not in with thin? Sony also dropped an LCD that displays an impressive 200 frames a second for cleaner, more seamless playback. Easy watching, but hard to obtain: The former goes on sale this fall in Japan for $4,500; pricing and availability for the Z4500 remains TBD.
